“How precious also are Your thoughts unto me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.”
Psalm 139:17-18
While still being knitted in secret,
Unseen by human eyes,
Your Word says You love us then
With Love from Heaven on high.
From the time we’re conceived in our mothers’ wombs
Until the end of our days here on earth,
You long to demonstrate how much You love us
By giving us Your eternal worth.
From birth we’re sinners by nature—
So prone to stray are we;
And, it’s only when our lives are yielded to You
That we truly can learn to be free.
In spite of our wanderings,
You still love us so;
In fact, Your thoughts toward us are so many
That the number we’ll never really ever know.
“More numerous than the sand on the seashore
Are your thoughts toward us” You say;
It’s only when we surrender our hearts to You
That Your Love will turn night into day.
So precious is this Love You give us,
So gentle and kind in heart—
You take us just as You find us
And give us a brand-new start.
Help us this day to spend our time
In loving obedience to You;
That way we’ll never have to wonder
If our service to You is precious, too.
