“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away—behold, all things are become new.” II Corinthians 5:17

There was a time when I wished there could be

A land of new beginnings—

A place where I could enter in

And not be plagued by anything.

A place where no more guilt and shame

Would flood my depths of soul;

A place where past deeds and bad memories

Would never again take control.

Yet for years it seemed that this was only a dream—

This “land of new beginnings;”

So, with burdened heart I continued on

With only a sad song to sing.

“What might have been” or “What shouldn’t have been”

Were the lyrics of my song. . .

For within my conscience I felt so condemned

About all that I’d ever done wrong.

But, then one day God’s love shone through

Into my dark, sinful heart;

He told me that truly there was such a place

Where I could begin a new start.

“Where is this place?” I frantically asked

As I heard His loving words;

They seemed to me to be Good News—

Why, the best I ever had heard!

“This place is near,” came His gentle reply

As He drew me close beside,

“This place is within my loving arms—

A place where you can always hide.

“Within my love you’ll find that there’s

No remembrance of your sin. . .

For when my Son forgives and cleanses you,

Into this new life you’ll enter in.” Glory!
