“If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14
It doesn’t take us long to see
That our world is full of trouble;
They’re fighting here, bombs and bullets there
That so often only leave much rubble.
And even if our land is calm,
With no fighting in the streets—
We’re still in need of God’s healing touch
From the sins we so often repeat.
We’ve become too proud to call His Name
When we’re in a public place,
For we’re too worried about what others might think
And that it might bring us much disgrace.
Why should we be so worried then
When terrorists attack?
We’re only reaping what we’ve sown
When to God we’ve turned our back.
Now is the time when we need to repent
And fall upon our faces,
For we’ve wandered oh so far from Him
In public and private places.
Yes, now is the time when our hearts should be broken
By our rebellious and shameful ways;
Instead of laughing and asking, “What will it hurt?”
We should be seeking to heed what He does say.
The road back home is a difficult one
When on pride’s pathway we have trod,
But it’s never too late to confess and repent
As we seek to return to God.
Humility is first, followed by much prayer,
Along with seeking and a turning away—
Only then will the Father hear and forgive
And bring healing and stay His Judgment Day.
