“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me—for my soul trusts in You; yea, in the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be o’er.” Psalm 57:1

We know we live in a troubled world

Where dangers so often abound;

We search for protection to keep us safe

Wherever it might be found.

Yet, even when we’ve obtained the best

Security that money can buy,

Within our hearts we’re still afraid

And so often still worry and sigh.

That’s why we need to trust in God,

Who watches over all;

He’s always there to keep us safe

Or to catch us when we fall.

When within His love we do abide

And are covered by His grace,

We need not fear what will happen today

Or what troubles we might face.

As a mother hen looks after her brood

And covers them with her wings,

So in Jesus Christ we find peace of mind

That helps us to always sing:

“Oh what a friend in Christ I’ve found—

What a dear and trusted Friend;

I’m always secure in His loving arms,

That will keep me, world without end.

“Yes, in the arms of my loving Lord

I find peace beyond compare;

There’s never a time when I worry or fret

That He’s asleep or is not there.

“Trust not in flesh or the devices of man

That will soon rust, rot and decay;

Trust instead in Jesus, your Savior and Friend,

Who will walk with you always.”
