“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me—for my soul trusts in You; yea, in the shadow of Your wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be o’er.” Psalm 57:1
How wonderful it is to live
On this ole place called “earth;”
Our journey here is truly a mixed bag
Of reflecting, hearts-aching and mirth.
When we’re young it seems that there’s no end
To our strength and golden tomorrows;
But as we grow older we begin to say,
“Life here is short and so often filled with sorrow.”
Yes, our pilgrimage through life is brief for sure
As we try to do our best;
Quite soon our youth’s like a vanishing mist
In the midst of life’s toils and tests.
At first we wonder why the Lord
Allows all this to be;
But, then we realize that the rain falls on all,
Which is really quite plain to see.
As we realize that our lives are as vapors,
That appear for a while and then are gone-
We should entrust our all into the Lord’s tender care
By praising Him all the day long.
Though brief is the time of our sojourn
Upon this planet called earth,
We should live today like it’d last always
Because of the One Who gives us, and it, worth.
Our days down here are far too few
To be bitter and unforgiving;
Much better is living in Christ’s great love
Upon which we’re truly depending.
Therefore, do not fear when your body grows frail
Or when tears do dim your eyes-
For our time is well-spent when we give it all to Him:
The Lord Jesus, Who reigns on high.
