“Therefore we were comforted in your comfort: yea, and exceedingly the more joyed we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit was refreshed by you all.”

II Corinthians 7:13

So often in my life each day

I have so much to do— That I forget to remember that those around me

Most likely have many needs too

Yes, too often my thoughts are only of me

And how to be successful today—

That I forget to reach out in love to others

Or always be loving in what I do or say.

“It’s all about ‘me’,” we often hear

In this age of self-centered living;

We forget that true life in Christ our Lord

Is really about serving and giving.

We forget that kind words are so often just like

Cold water to a thirsty man,

And kind deeds are really eloquent words

When we lend someone a helping hand.

How wonderful it is when others reach out

And touch us with their love—

For in reality they’ve show us just a tiny glimpse

Of the Father’s love up above.

Christ’s love uplifts those who are burdened in heart,

Whether by a tiny word or deed; It looks beyond one’s color or creed

And simply sees their need.

“Soul-refreshing” is something we all can use

Most each and every day;

And most often we receive it when we do our best

To give it to others along the way.

May we let the Spirit direct our paths

As we interact with others,

For they, too, probably need some “soul refreshing”

From one who’s called “sister” or “brother.”
