“His lord said unto him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord’.”

Matthew 25:23

We know our days upon this earth
Are short and few at best;
They’re often filled with heartache and tears
As we go through many trials and tests.

Sometimes we’re prone to ask ourselves
“Is this all there is to life?”
Or, we’re apt to grumble and complain
As we encounter so many difficulties and strife.

It’s in those times of “weary well-doing”
That we must look to God up above—
For He reminds us that our Pilgrimage here
Is all about Him and His saving Love.

From the time of our birth on this ‘ole earth
Until the day our labors are through,
We’re to live our lives in service to Him
And love Him in all we say and do.

For now we can see only partially
The things that await us there;
But, we need never fear or grow lonely
Or sink into hopeless despair.

Not when there’s a Joy that awaits us
And a Home with streets of gold;
Even now our Savior is finishing
The greatest Story that’s ever been told.

One day when our life here is ended
And we cross to the other Side,
In Christ there’s a Welcome that awaits us
As He beckons us to come to His Place inside.

“Welcome Home,” He says, as we enter,
“Well-done, My faithful friend.
You’ve finished your course and won the Prize
Which now is yours at your Journey’s end.”
